Our workplace air quality specialist, Jason Day, has achieved a prestigious qualification, placing him among a select group of fewer than 30 certified professionals in the UK (October 2026).

Jason, who is our LEV Division Manager, has successfully gained his CoC Control (Certificate of Competency in Control of Harmful Substances in the Workplace) following a rigorous professional assessment.

Outstanding achievement

Our Managing Director, Colin Hitch, says: “This is an outstanding achievement for Jason and one that demonstrates the high level of expertise we have within our business.

“Achieving CoC Control status requires extensive knowledge and practical experience and it helps provide clients with confidence that they are receiving advice and services from a recognised expert. It also strengthens our ability to meet the competency requirements of contracts and tenders, supporting the continued growth of the business.”

Professional discussion

The qualification was awarded following a one-hour-and-20-minute professional discussion with a lead inspector from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and two senior examiners.

Jason is now one of fewer than 30 people certified licentiates in the country listed on the BOHS Professional Register in Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV).

Jason says: “The assessment gave me a fantastic opportunity to demonstrate my knowledge and experience. Achieving this qualification is a significant personal milestone and one that brings important benefits for our customers too.

Evidence of competency

“It provides evidence of competency and helps further reassure our clients that they are working with qualified professionals committed to maintaining the highest standards in workplace health and safety.

“This qualification has been around 15 years in the making, with more than a decade of that time spent working on-site with customers across the country. Going into the final discussion assessment was nerve wracking, but it went smoothly and has given me real reassurance in my knowledge, experience and ability.
